THE PURPOSE BEHIND ALL LIFE. SPIRITUALISM is said to be a PHILOSOPHY, which in its original GREEK meaning inidicates a ‘LOVE OF WISDOM’ and it is generally understood that the PRLNCLPLES are PROPOUNDED, which give a REASONABLE EXPLANATION of LIFE and its PHENOMENA.Â
The demonstration through MEDLUMSHLP, that SURVIVAL after DEATH is a BIOLOGICAL FACT is of VITAL IMPORTANCE, not only for those who are bereaved, but also the INESCAPABLE CONCLUSION that MAN is a SPIRITUAL being HERE and NOW. It is not DEATH which confers a SPIRITUAL nature on him, it is merely thePROCESS, which FREES man’s ETERNAL SPIRIT from his PHYSICAL BODY andRELEASES it into a WORLD OF WIDER ACTIVITY. Thus man exists on earthprimarily because he is a SPIRIT, expressing himself through a PHYSICAL BODY.Â
This has PROFOUND IMPLICATIONS, especially so far as PHILOSOPHY is CONCERNED, indeed, the most REVOLUTIONARY fact in all HUMAN LIFE. It affects every ASPECT of man’s BEING, THINKING and ACTIVITY. It CHANGES the WHOLE of his PERSPECTIVE and PROVIDES a new and TRUER FOCUS on the PURPOSE of EXISTENCE. It PROCLAIMS a ‘TRUE SENSE OF VALUES,’ giving priority to EXTERNAL SPIRITUAL REALITIES rather than to EPI[EM7ERAL MATERIAL STANDARDS. It explains man’s place in the UNiVERSAL SCHEME and REVEALS what he must do whilst here, to EQUIP HIMSELF for the next STAGE of EXISTENCE.Â
Spiritualism reveals LOVE and WISDOM ruling through IMMUTABLE NATURALLAWS GOVERNING AND CONTROLLING EVERY FACET OF LIFE, VISIBLEOR INVISIBLE. It DISCARDS, the PERSONAL, CAPRICIOUS, and VENGEFULDEITY, still accepted by Many Religions and shows an UNBREAKABLE SPIRITUALLINK UNITING GOD and MAN in a FATHERHOOD RELATIONSHIP. It should ABOLISH FEAR of the MORROW. It gives a CONFIDENCE based on theAPPRECIATION of how NATURAL LAWS operate HERE and importantlyHEREAFTER. It ENSHRINES PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY as the KEY toMENTAL and SPIRITUAL GROWTH.Â
These IMPLICATIONS OF SURVIVAL, when put into PRACTICE, will PRODUCEgreat CHANGES in every FACET of HUMAN EXISTENCE and profoundly affectsMAN’S RELATIONShIP with all his EARTHLY NEIGHBOURS and gives a NEWCONCEPT of his RESPONSIBILITY, “TOWARDS ALL THE CREATURES,WHOSHARE THIS PLANET.â€Â Naturally, SPLRITUALISTS, like other HUMAN BEINGS, are not ALL at the SAME STAGE of MENTAL and SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION and so cannot be EXPECTED to AGREE on the IMPLICATIONS of the PHILOSOPHY of their RELIGION. However, they can FIND for THEMSELVES, the PURPOSE BEHIND THEIR OWN LIFE and therefore their own ‘LOVE OF WISDOM.’ We should always remember therefore, that ‘WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS HAVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE,’ and NOT the OTHER WAY ROUND. This in itself begs numerous questions with regards to REINCARNATION?
